Hello from Canada's History!
With the Olympics behind us and a precarious NHL season ahead of us, we offer you a small sports fix when you visit our Online Extensions area and listen to CBC icon Don Newman. Don shares with us his personal memories of Paul Henderson's Summit Series-winning goal in Moscow.
If you wish, reminisce a little longer and read the Summit '72 memories that Canada's History readers submitted, and take a moment to share your own.
As a parent, I know how hard it can be to keep children occupied in the waning days of summer. Regular Roots contributor Paul Jones offers some great ideas in this issue's "Genealogy can be child's play." We posted his article with all the website links he recommends.
Finally, we're pretty excited about our upcoming auction for the exclusive print created by Terry "Aislin" Mosher. So excited, in fact, that we wrote the wrong start date in the ad that appeared in this issue of the magazine. Bidding on eBay will begin September 19th, not the 10th as printed.
We hope you're enjoying the remaining days of summer and look forward to bringing you the highlights of what promises to be a busy fall!

Video: Carving Stories
Dr. Jamie Morton, curator at the Manitoba Museum, shows us three unique carvings made by indigenous people of Haida Gwaii and the Chukchi of Siberia. And there's a ghost ship.
Strange Salute
The Canadians' controversial greeting at the 1936 Berlin Olympics is the subject of an article by James M. Pitsula that originally appeared in The Beaver, August-September 2004.
Video: Tecumseh and Brock
In this TVO video, James Laxer outlines the events of the War of 1812 and offers profiles of Tecumseh and Brock, who had formed an unlikely alliance that changed the course of Canadian history.
