I use only Minwax antique oil and then finish with a light coat of Deft semi gloss spray.

I use Briwax on just about all of my bark carvings. For me what works best is a first coat of clear followed by several coats of light brown and clear. By doing that you can control how dark you want it and it leaves a nice finish with a lot of depth.

Greetings,

I recently finished a cottonwood bark carving. I applied Delta Ceramcoat, Satin exterior/interior varnish to the completed project. The Delt Ceramcoat finish turned the carving much..much to dark. Any suggestions on a finish one could apply to a cottonwood bark carving where the bark would not turn dark?. Thanks for any assistance.
