[Woodcarver] Pine for carving

Hello Alex

The other guys are all quite right and the further north the tree has 
grown the better; nice close grain. The pine most favoured in South 
Germany and the Tirol is commonly called Stone Pine. That is/Pinus 
cembra/, not /Pinus pinea, /the one that produces pine nuts. I wish I 
could find it in the UK. Good luck in your search and happy acanthus.
