Fellow carvers,
I've finished the carving of "Our Lady of Guadalupe" and posted some pictures. If you care to view it, click on my webshots link below. It is in the first album titled "Our Lady of Guadalupe".
The piece of basswood measures 3-1/4 inches thick, by 21-1/2 wide and 32-1/2 inches high, carved to a depth of 2-3/8 inches. It is close to the size of the original image in Mexico as well as close in color and texture of the coarse cloth. Roses are part of the miracle which are carved down both sides of the frame. The paint I used is artist oils mixing it with polyurethane varnish as an extender. The gold is a metallic lacquer
