Joe- sounds like you have a lot on your plate. I'm not working on Christmas projects, but I have been woodworking. The husband of couple we have known for 25 years asked me to build internment boxes for the cremains of the wife and her sister. He brought over 24 bd ft of 1'x1" rough cedar boards for me to use. I dug out the box joint jig I bought 10 years ago but never used- then I had to learn how to use it. I left the fingers proud of the surface and did some nice wood burning on the lids. they are about 14' x 14" x 11" cubes. This Saturday the boxes will be buried on their property in the presence of friends and family- and a catfish fry. Both women died of breast cancer within 2 years of one another. I'll try to attach a photo of the finished boxes.
The other recent project was to make a memorial carving in honor of twin boy babies who died as the result of a genetic defect. Sorry, another sad project. The customer approved my drawings and I decided to make a maquette in Super Sculpey first since that would be a big help in cutting out the blanks and doing the carving. I got the clay done and sent the photos to the customer- and then never heard from them again. So, I will change the clay to suit my fancy and continue the project as I wish. After spending 2 weeks getting this far I can't quit now. The project has value beyond the original premise.
Oh- and I'm about to start another video- this time on making the wren like I did for the Wren on My Hand carving.
I don't have those last two photos on this computer, but if you go to my FaceBook account photos I have step-by-step photos of all these projects- and more. My account is all public so nobody should have any trouble seeing them.
You asked!

>With all the shopping fuss beginning it would be interesting to know
how that effects you in the work shop. Are you working on or going to work on
Christmas related carvings?

>Last 3 weeks I been in a bubble not hearing any news, radio or TV
(volunteering for the Red Cross with hurricane Sandy's recovery). Yesterday
coming back home I listened to the radio for the first time in 3
weeks and felt it was too early to hear Christmas carols. Well I guess
the Christmas season is here so we better get our projects started. What
Christmas carving project are you working on?
