I bought "Dylon" permanent fabric dye in dark brown from a local Singer
Sewing Center. The idea was to dissolve the dye in alcohol and have a non
grain raising dye. Well the dye won't dissolve in my pure isopropyl
alcohol (rubbing alcohol) until I added about 50 percent water and thus
went another great idea.

Multiple washes with this mix does dye the wood and I can sneak up, on the
tone I want so all is not lost.
