[Woodcarver] Is hearing linked to the control of your cuts?

Has anyone else experienced a little loss of control with reduced hearing? Maybe I'm just weird?

WHAT!??!
Thea claimes that I have a LOT of lost hearing Joe 
But I can hear if one of my students carves with a dull knife or chisle 
I can hear even if they carve against the grain 
Same as some folks can walk around with dirthy glasses and NOT knowing  it I can hear the dif in cuts with a dull tool
