Hey Lil' Buddy,
Starting the second weekend in October, we have 8 weekends in a row
committed: 5 shows and 3 seminars.
Omaha, NE - Oct. 13-14; Wheaton, IL - Oct. 20-21; Danville, IL - Oct. 27-28;
Belleville, IL - Nov. 3-4; Dayton, OH - Nov. 10-11. Followed by seminars by
Chris Hammack, Sharon Bechtold and Rick Harney. All that ends on Dec. 2nd.
The next day I'll either be celebrating my 66th. birthday or in the morgue!
LOL! I'm getting' too old for all that running around!
I am working on our Winter/Early Spring seminar offerings which go from Jan.
to June. We'll be sending a flyer out listing those plus a whole lot of new
products.
Other than those things and training for the Ironman Triathlon, nothing much
is happening around here.

Nice to hear from you Big Dog. I thought opening the door would wake you up
for a comment.
Anything interesting happening at The Woodcraft Shop, like special seminars,
big sales or sweeping the floor?

Hey Lil' Joe,
I do believe it is an established fact that you are, in fact, weird.

Here's a question??? How much of your carving control is dependent on your
hearing? It may sound like a strange question but think about it. I think
many of us, without knowing it, listen for how the chisel sounds when
slicing the wood. There is a distinct difference in the feel of a chisel
slicing across grain and along the grain. I think we also get used to the
distinct different sounds of the chisel also.
The reason that I ask, is I just needed to send my hearing aids in to the
factory for service. This seems to happen about every 6 months. It takes
over a week to get them back. Last time I sent them in I thought I was
imagining a little loss in control because of not being able to hear the
cut. So when I got them back I listened for the different sounds. To me the
different cuts do sound different. Also when the chisel is taking a very
light cut, that's hard to see, the sound also seems to help in knowing how
much we are taking. I just dropping my hearing aids off for service and
again I seem to have lost a little control just like last time. I my be just
imagining it but I don't think so.
Has anyone else experienced a little loss of control with reduced hearing?
Maybe I'm just weird?
