Brian,
I'm glad you liked it. When you go looking for basswood, make sure you northern basswood. The southern grown stuff is no good for carving. Try looking up Dale Heinecke - his wood is the best. You will be very happy when you switch to basswood.

I got the little gnome house i love it, i was hoping to get a house thank you.
i started carving last year i have been using wood off my property oak walnut ash i see that everyone uses basswood
so i will check with the saw mill and see if i can get some.
I am honored to be able to interact with awesome carvers like yourself thank you again.
