[Woodcarver] cypress knee painting ??

I would cover them w/ gesso, it is plaster of pariss based, it covers very well and gives a good base for painting over.
Kilz has a terrible oder and the water base does NOT cover like the old oil base Kilz did. We had to repaint a ceiling with water marks 4-5 times with Kilz to cover the water marks.
