[Woodcarver] Request for assistance,

Here is another idea for that wounded veteran. Have him contact Sandra Budak at Honoring Our Veterans.. We have classes in Jackson Hole Wyoming. We pay their travel, give them room and board, furnish tools and teach classes. The transportation, room and board and classes and tools at no cost to the wounded veteran. I will be there teaching again this year as one of four woodcarving instructors. They have other programs besides woodcarving also, all designed for healing. (there are no formal healing exercises, just get in there and carve, surprising how that heals) Here is the web site. http://www.honorvets.org/ It is a qualified 501 C3 charity organization, so don’t be afraid to donate.

We have 2 woodcarving classes this year with 14 new wounded veterans attending. We are also bringing back all 7 wounded veterans from last year to help mentor the new ones. We fly them in from all over the country at no cost to them. They pay nothing for tools, room or board. They leave with a great full-size set of Stubai chisels, a set of palm chisels, knives, sharpening equipment, a bunch of wood and lots of projects, all at no cost to them. They learn all types of carving, including a few days of chain-saw carving. Sandra Budak in the founder of Honoring Our Veterans (HOV). She is the only one working for the organization, guided by her volunteer board of directors. We instructors are also volunteers. Our classroom space is donated as well as all the operating expenses are donated, all through Sandra’s fundraising efforts. Sandra organizes all the classes and takes care all of the travel arrangements. That way Sandra insures that almost every penny donated goes to helping the wounded veterans.

Many have stepped up to the plate to help out, including BIG Dog, who is giving us a great deal on tools, just like he did in the past. I want to give him a big THANK YOU. I bet non of you are surprised about that. Yup, we know how many years Big Dog has helped those in need. Let’s give him a big applause. Clap[]clap[]clap[]standing ovation[]clap[]clap[]................

And if you know other wounded veterans who would like to carve, hunt, fish, raft, etc... Please send them to http://www.honorvets.org/ . (climbing off my soap box...)

If he's a disabled Veteran, has he applied for VA disability benefits? What is his skill level? Does he have a need for wide cut tools? I have a pretty wide assortment of pro quality tools, but no need to duplicate. Let me know what is needed and I'll send what I can. Address please.

Subject: [Woodcarver] Request for assistance,

Dear friends and fellow woodcarvers;

I ask/seek assistance. And so that interactions do not fog the important information being passed by the list I ask that responses come directly to me @ illuminarchy at yahoo.com . I anyone had spare tools/books/patterns they could afford to kick down to a disabled american veteran who is trying to make woodcarving a profitable enterprise since all he has is Social Security and cannot afford to purchase them. We are trying to raise grant money to purchase said tools and books, but since I am a member of this list I figured that my big hearted friends on this list might have something spare they could kick down to make the grant funds we eventually raise go further and help him immensely.

Blessings and Peace,

Michael
