[Woodcarver] Sad news

It is with such sadness that I pass along this news.  The carving world, and  our carving family, have lost another very special member.  At 12:30 PM yesterday, John Bird, fondly referred to as "Prairiejohn" by out woodcarver chat group passed away. John's wife, Nancy, asked me to let everyone know that surrounded by his family, his passing was peaceful and he was not in pain.
John was a gift to our chat group.  I had the opportunity to spend time with him at several of our "Jackstock" gatherings, and to spend a week at their home in Oklahoma.  John initiated a couple of very active carving groups, one meeting weekly in his workshop.  John was a far more skilled carver than he believed himself to be and freely shared those skills with the local groups  as well as with those of us who chatted with him regularly.  His incredibly "fertile mind", as he referred to his creativity, his kindness and his sense of humor will be missed.  R.I.P. John!
