[Woodcarver] How to carve the Hobo/Tramp art Crown of Thorns

Hey everybody.  I need some help here.  I have been doing a lot of different ball in cage, chains, and other whimsical carvings lately and have been really enjoying it.  I have done some research on Hobo/Tramp Art Carvings and I am really impressed with what is called the Crown of Thorns carvings.  These are items (ie, picture frames, crosses, etc) that are made up of a large number of small carved pieces.  The items look like a whole bunch of little points put together.  I have been able to find plenty of photos and information on the items that have been produced but I cannot locate anything that shows me how to actually make the individual pieces or put them together to build the projects.  If anyone out there can help me find this information I would be extremely grateful.  I would like to try my hand at it.  Considering the lack of information available, I am afraid it may be a lost cause, but I figure that there might be someone out there that can help me.
