We are coming back! Celebrate! Spring into the best little Woodcarver's Show
in the East again!

 

Lancaster County WoodCarvers'

47th Annual Woodcarving & Wildlife Art Festival

with Caricature Carvers of America

Student Memorial Center, Millersville University,

Festival Admission: $5.00

"Spring to Life!" is the theme for this year's festival.

Exhibits and Displays of Wood Carvings and Wildlife Art are hosted by the
artists. 

This year we have a record of 63 different exhibitors and three or four
vendors attending. 

 

Sister Clubs Exhibiting:

American National Cane Club (ANCC), a sister club that focuses on canes and
walking sticks and meets monthly in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.

Carrol Carvers, a sister club from southern Maryland.

Conewago Carvers, a sister club which is very active west of the Susquehanna
River, meeting in East Berlin, Pennsylvania. 

Cumberland Valley Wood Carvers will also have an exhibit by their club
members. This is a sister club from the Chambersburg - Scotland area of
Pennsylvania.

West Shore Woodcarvers, a sister club which is very active west of the
Susquehanna River, Mechanicsburg (Hampden Township), Cumberland County,
Pennsylvania.

Yorkarvers, a sister club from the York area of Pennsylvania.

PA Delaware Valley Woodcarvers, a sister club from Bucks County,
Pennsylvania.

            William Rush WoodCarvers, a sister club in Media, Pennsylvania.

Pennsylvania Gourd Society, a sister club will be present with a display of
their art on / with Gourds.

 

Woodcarving Illustrated and Fox Chapel Publishing are planning to host an
area called "Spit and Whittle" for carvers and attendees to sit and share
information and to carve and to watch demonstrations. 

 

Demonstrations / Lectures / Presentations of one hour duration will be given
every hour starting on the half-hour by various carvers including our
featured carver and other local carvers. Schedule follows.

Carving "5 Minute" Owl or Hedge Hog - hands on carving for beginners, or new
carvers, or those who just want to try carving. All supplies and tools will
be available for use with basic safety and techniques shared. Instruction
and guidance will be provided by club members. Each session will take about
an hour and will start on the hour and on the half-hour. At the end of the
hour most will leave your own owl or hedgehog. Must be at least 18 years old
and everyone must sign a waver to participate in a session.

 

Woodcarvings and Wildlife Art are available for purchase from many of the
artists and carvers. Many pieces of original work by carvers and other
artists will be available.

 

Friendship Cane Raffle: Our club has created two friendship canes made up of
about 13 individual carvers who made a block for each cane. Tickets will be
available at the Festival and drawing will be Sunday afternoon. 

 

Vendors expected this year will also be selling carving and art tools,
supplies, books, wood, etc. 

Hillcrest Carving, Don Swartz, proprietor / carver, from Lancaster County,
PA

            John Dunkle Knives, John Dunkle, proprietor / knife maker from
Archbold, OH (If he is recovered enough and can make enough knives for
sale.)

            Ritter Carvers Inc, Barbara Ritter, proprietor from Colmar, PA

            Stadtlander Woodcarvings, Bob Stadtlander, proprietor / carver
from Mantura, OH

 

Silent Auction will be held for a number of carvings and wildlife art
donated by exhibitors and club members, as well as a variety of other items.
Proceeds from the Silent Auction will be split evening between the club's
Beginner Carver Fund and then split between two local non-profit
organization.

 

Door prizes of carvings done by the Lancaster County WoodCarvers will be
awarded regularly throughout the Festival.

 

Competition is open to exhibitors and club members only. Entries must be
entered Friday between 4 and 8 p.m. or Saturday between 7 and 8 a.m..
Competition pieces must remain in the show for the duration of the show.

Lancaster County WoodCarvers meet monthly on the 3rd Tuesday evening from
6:00 to about 8:30 p.m. at the Community United Methodist Church, 130
Tennyson Dr., Lancaster, PA 17602. June's meeting is a picnic at Lititz
Springs Park. Open Carve Session on the first Thursday of the month at 9:00
a.m. to 11 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Community United Methodist
Church, Lancaster.

 

The Lancaster County WoodCarvers is a Pennsylvania Non-Profit Corporation
for educational and charitable work especially to promote, foster and
encourage the arts of woodcarving, whittling and sculpturing.
