Well, the ones that I have are the Gugesanders (the cones)
with the piece of sandpaper running across them as you described. When I
want to slide them on the mandrels, I just carefully line up the piece of sand
paper with the slot in the mandrel. They do not slide on very far, maybe
only 3/8 of an inch or at most 1/2 inch but they do not come off when
sanding. Maybe you are thinking they should go on a long ways, I don't
know. Sorry I can't help more. I am also sending this to you direct
so you will see it sooner before the digest comes out.

Gang,

Thanks for all your comments about the split mandrels and sanding
cones
from my previous question. Unfortunately, I immediately
stopped
receiving the digest format each day so only saw your answers
tonight
after getting the last few days of postings.

What I have
already is the split mandrel model M23 from Foredom, as well
as the spiral
sanding cones in several grits. What I can't do is mount
those
sanding cones onto the split mandrel. The sandpaper will not
slide
easily into the slot of the mandrel. No one really addressed how
they mount these sanding cones, can anyone help? (without waking
sleeping Big Dogs?? LOL!!

Thanks much!!

Vic
