<DIV>Rockler has been incorporated within the Berland's store in Lombard and
Joliet, Illinois. I don't know about other Berland's stores. I'm scheduled to
teach at Rockler/Berland's, in Joliet,&nbsp;on September 19 (about a week before
GOW 2009). It will be a one-hour seminar (running twice that morning) on
sharpening and basic carving tools and techniques. I will be promoting the GOW
while I'm there. </DIV>
<DIV>&nbsp;</DIV>
<DIV>The table was easy to build. It had a Formica top that I kept waxed so the
heavy plywood sheets would slide easily. I bolted two wood brackets to the
underside that went over the edges of the existing round table. I used separate
roller supports under the extended ends of the table to take the stress off of
the existing round table supports.&nbsp;It work like a charm.</DIV>

          <DIV>Hi Larry,</DIV>
          <DIV>&nbsp;</DIV>
          <DIV>The reason I got my DeWalt 788 was I got a job&nbsp;to cut
out&nbsp;small&nbsp;leaf designs in 3/4-inch thick oak plywood for a
church that was being renovated. There were&nbsp;9&nbsp;of these
panels that&nbsp;went around the sanctuary behind the altar.&nbsp; Each
panel was 8-foot high by 3-foot wide. I made a large table, from
counter top material,&nbsp;that clamped to the existing saw's
work&nbsp;table. The large table needed floor supports on both ends to
stabilize it. There were thousands of small cut-outs where both ends
of the blade had to be disconnected and fed through the next
hole.&nbsp;Over the&nbsp;4 weeks that we worked on them Tina, my
apprentice, got a great leg workout from doing deep knee bends
disconnecting and connection the lower portion of the blade thousands
of times. As it turned out that was the most profitable job I did that
          year.</DIV>
          <DIV>&nbsp;</DIV>
<DIV>Since then the 788 had a lot of other challenges and all of them
it came through with flying colors. Most of the work I do on it is too
large to turn so I've just been using the spiral blades ever since I
got it. I had a Powermatic scroll saw before the 788 that got donated
to the boy scouts. The Powermatic is a toy compared to the DeWalt
          788.</DIV>

which have pierced handles. I have been using a 10-year
old Craftsman scroll saw to cut the handles, but the
vibration and the difficulty getting blades positioned for
interior cuts are aggravating. A scroll sawyer whose work
I admired at a recent craft show recommended the DeWalt
                      788. I read the reviews of this saw on Amazon. Up through
2006, the reviews are uniformly quite favorable.
Apparently they then moved their manufacturing site from
Canada to Taiwan, after which there are some very negative
reviews in 2007 describing gross manufacturing defects and
quality control problems with DeWalt doing little to
correct the reported problems. &nbsp; However, the most
recent 2009 reviews are once again favorable, suggesting
they may have resolved their issues. Does anyone have any
recent experience with these saws? I do not have a store

                      <DIV>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; The best currently
