Now that I have several different tool makers in my collection I can
sure tell some differences in sweeps, sizes, steel etc. I have a couple Two
Cherry, many Ramelson, many Denny ( hey that rhymes) Japanese, and now half a
dozen or so Henry Taylor. Out of all my tools, I dislike the Two Cherries as the
palm tools are too large and the steel is the most brittle of all I have. They
are not the most comfortable tools, at least for me. I find Ramelson steel to be
fine and they hold and edge well but I also hear that the quality control has
gotten pretty bad and our club will no longer sell them. Too bad. Denny's are a
step above in steel, they come sharp but I think his sweeps and sizes are the
most inconsistent, #3's are more like a 2 compared to others and some sizes
are off, like the 3/8 #9 isn't anywhere close to a 3/8 and makes a perfect 1/4
#9, which is funny cause he doesn't make a 1/4 #9 :) The Henry Taylors seem
to be spot on in sweep and size. Some one told me that it takes for ever to
get one on a stone sharp but once it is sharp they stay sharp better than any
tool he has. Just some of my observations on the tools I have. Now I shall
carve!

Corey

Larry, love the new tools and especially liking the Henry Taylor
palm tools. Those are some really nice tools. And thumbs up and kudos to your
sharpening guy! The 1/8 V-tool is the sharpest and nicest cutting V-tool I
own! Cuts like butter!

Corey

--
Corey
Iowa
