<P>I have only carved two cypress knee's I did the carving first, painted second, then just applied neutral shoe polish on it to seal it. After that all I have to do is add a little for shoe polish and buff it up again, and it looks just fine. Not sure if that will help you but just a thought.</P>

<DIV>Anyone have time and/or the inclination to talk about finishing a cypress knee. Have carved a Father Christmas figure. Will want to paint it. If I wet my finger and touch the face, it become very dark so not sure that linseed oil and then paint is the way to go. I use this method on basswood and the linseed oil leaves a nice natural skin tone but this will be too dark, me thinks. </DIV>
