Microsoft use GMT when they mean "clock on the wall time in countries whose winter timezone is GMT or UTC, including daylight savings" which is even more pernicious. Hence calendar appointments say "GMT, London, Lisbon, Edinburgh" or whatever it is). The list of dubious assumptions in there is extensive. Lisbon has been on both UTC+0 and UTC+1 in recent years. They recognise that Scotland and England are in some sense different counties while excluding Dublin, which definitely is another country. The UK has only switched the EU daylight savings recently. It would not be surprising were Scotland to either operate different daylight savings or a different base timezone or both in the lifespan of a software product. All of these assumptions are wrapped up in "GMT".
