Kinda cool when T-Bird started doing that, eh?  With 0.9, I guess.

Had occasion to _print_ a message the other day, though, and it
looks like TB sends some funky escape sequences to achieve the same
auto-bold/italics effects it renders on-screen.  Doesn't really work
out.

All of which reminded me that each rendering layer inevitably embeds
its own assumptions, which sometimes cascade poorly.  MD makes
XHTML.  IMO, MD users have to be aware of that (they're choosing to
use it, after all) and retain some responsibility for the output.
