[MCR] Howsons 13 August 11

Public Mountain Conditions Report mcr at informalex.org

The weather has improved a great deal here even though it's raining
today. The snowline is at 1800 on S aspects and 1600 on colder slopes.
The snow is firm and makes for great travel. Crevasse coverage is very
good. It tends to snow down to about 2000 m so above that there is a bit
of wet new snow to contend with. The cornices are few now and not
overhanging too much.

Both the Hut Creek and Burnie River bridges are now rebuilt as steel
truss constructions. So the access to the Loft and Howson Peak is now
open again and will hopefully stay so for the foreseeable future.
