[MCR] Rain effect and trail warning for Bow Hut

Public Mountain Conditions Report mcr at informalex.org
Wed Jul 27 17:14:24 EDT 2011

The heavy rains of the last couple of days seem to have gone right up to
ridge top in the main ranges resulting in significant melting. On a flight
to Bow Hut yesterday the main ranges looked soggy, but a lot less white.
With saturation like this, a good freeze may significantly improve
conditions. There is a photo attached of the lower glacier on Mt. Hector.

The trail to Bow Hut is presently under water for a section just beyond the
north west end of Bow Lake. It is possible to get by, but you have to avoid
the trail and bushwhack on the bank for a ways. From "the steps" onwards it
is fine.(See attached file: Mt Hector July 26.JPG)
