Public Mountain Conditions Report mcr at informalex.org
Fri Feb 17 17:40:46 EST 2012

FEB 13th - 16th Bow to Sherbrooke Lake. Excellent travel conditions. 10cm
of new snow overnight 13/14. Moderate westerly winds at ridge top
elevations for most of the trip. Snow depth above 2,700m was 180cm+.
Crevasses appeared well bridge. We took the high ramp to Balfour High Col
but a group coming the other way skied down the low ramp without
difficulty. Some old serac debris between 7,000 and 7500 ft and much more
potential for similar events. Very little evidence of recent avalanche
activity other than a couple of size 1.5 solar point releases on the West
side of Gordon from rocky terrain above 10,000ft. Other than some ugly thin
sun crusts as you descend into the Niles Creek the snow quality was good.
