[MCR] Mt Assiniboine, July 28

[Public Mountain Conditions Report]

Climbed Mt Assiniboine with Steve Holeczi and Ian Jackson today. The peak is in good condition, with little snow left high up on the mountain. There is still a fair amount of snow on the Gmoser Highway, as well as around the Hind Hut.
We climbed the N Face gullies (perfect steps with a well-filled bergschrund) to near the Red Band, then traversed into the normal N Ridge route. We descended the N Ridge in its entirety and did not use crampons, although an ice axe was handy to chop a couple of steps across small snow patches.
