> Up to 10cm of new snow above 3000m on Athabasca today made for good travel conditions up the Silverhorn and down the ramp route.  Weather was mostly sunny with light to moderate winds from the SW.  The bergschrund is still easily passable and we protected the climbing with ice screws in good alpine ice. 
> The new snow is bonding well to the old snow/ice surface and we did not encounter winds slabs in the alpine where we travelled. However, the new snow was moistening in the early afternoon and from safety of the lower morraines we witnessed a size 1 point release avalanche that swept the right side of the Silverhorn.
