[MCR] Ha Ling Peak, NE Face, Yamnuska Traverse

I attempted to guide the NE Face of Ha Ling peak today, June 2nd. There are several snow patches to kick steps into on the approach. I was happy to have an ice axe to hand to my guest as several of the fall aways were ugly. The biggest and most threatening snow patch can be skirted below. If you are going to Sisiphus Summits you will have to start off of snow at present, but you won't have to clip the first several bolts as they are buried. We stood under my tarp for an hour 60 metres up the NE Face as hail and sleet fell, then we ran away to the Yamnuska Traverse.

When I guided the Yamnuska Traverse on May 27th I had to step on snow and ice a dozen times, today I didn't step in any. Summer is coming.

Happy trails,
