[MCR] Haffner early season ice

[Public Mountain Conditions Report]

Warm temperatures and humans banging and kicking their way up on top rope initiated a catastrophic curtain collapse at haffner Creek today. Luckily- No one was hurt, despite the crowd standing at the base.

The ice curtain was not touching down. It was hollow and made many warning sounds long before the collapse. 

The tops of most routes were unfrozen with loose rock, soft snow and water running behind all ice features. Tricky and dangerous conditions. 

Tread lightly or wait for colder temps. A late start to the ice climbing season makes it hard to be patient.
