I rode on the 1506 last Saturday, (7/15/06) as it was pulled from one end of
Spencer to the other. It looks good. Obviously someone has spent a lot of
time on it. An automated wheel chair lift has been installed at the baggage
door. Inside the coach compartment, most of the seats on one side have been
removed and "tie-downs" downs for wheel chairs have been installed. The other
side of the compartment still has coach seats. The automated chair lift is
an improvement over the hand cranked lift that had been used. As one of the
crew pointed out to me as we waited to start our little ride, they get a lot
of grandparents there.

How did the 1506 come to belong the NC Transportation Museum? It used to
belong to the Old Dominion Chapter of the NRHS.
At this time the entire set of passenger cars owned by the Roanoke chapter
of the NRHS resides at Spencer. Apparently the Museum
Has worked out an agreement to store the set for the chapter, I had heard
that the chapter lost the track space they were using to store the set.
