Yes. Don't forget that N&W business cars were rebuilds of
heavyweight cars to begin with. The basic structure of lightweights
(truss carbody) vs. heavies (huge center beam or sill with the car
body built up from it accounts for a lot of the weight
difference. Heavyweight Pullman cars at about 75 tons were almost in
a league with business cars for weight.
