FIRST TRAIN RUNS OVER NEW ROAD
------
N. & W. Officials Inspect Line from Kenova to Naugatuck
------
The track has been completed on the Norfolk and Western extension down Big Sandy from Naugatuck to Kenova, and on Tuesday [November 15, 1904] the first passenger train made the trip between the two points over the new road.
The train carried no ordinary passengers only a party of officials who were inspecting the track before it is formally accepted by the company.
The road bed is in good condition, and it is believed that the company will be operating through passenger trains regularly between Kenova and Naugatuck by the first of December.
Fairly good time was made by the train Tuesday, the run from Fort Gay to Kenova [25.4 miles] occupying only thirty minutes.
When it is completed this line will be the main line of the Norfolk and Western for through passenger trains and for west bound freight, as the Dingess hill will be done away with.
