Old Speed Law Applied to Trains

LA PORTE, Ind., March 2 (AP) - The La Porte City Council in a special 
meeting today ordered enforcement of a 40-year old city ordinance, 
limiting trains to a speed of 15 miles an hour, in and effort to 
force the New York Central Railroad to install flashers at crossing here.
   The action followed the death last night of three persons whose 
car was hit by a New York Central train. The engineer of the train 
said it was traveling 60-70 miles an hour.
