Work Begins on Five of Six Tunnels Ordered

    Work has been commenced on five of the six tunnels which are being constructed along the Norfolk and Western system between Vivian and Twin Branch.  Information regarding the letting of the contracts for this work was published exclusively in the Daily Telegraph some time ago.
    At Welch J. C. Zebrist & Co. have broken ground at both entrances to the tunnel.  About sixty men are at work.  Mr. Foley told a Daily Telegraph representative yesterday that he could use forty men in addition to his present force.  In order to secure a part of this force he left yesterday for Roanoke.  This is the only point at which actual construction has commenced.  Workingmen's camps and houses are being erected for the tunnels near Twin Branch, Roderfield and Devon.
    No preparations are in progress at Vivian.  Rhinehart & Dennis have the Vivian contract.  The work will take up the greater part of two years.
