Norfolk and Western Joins in Tribute to Jeff Davis
------
There was a suspension of business over the entire system of the Norfolk and Western railroad yesterday afternoon for five minutes while the veil was being withdrawn from the monument [in Richmond] erected to the memory of Jefferson Davis. An order was issued from the General Offices at Roanoke, and promptly at 2 o'clock all work on the system stopped for five minutes.

[I wonder how this tribute by the N&W to the former president of the Confederacy was taken in the halls of the Pennsylvania Railroad's headquarters in the Northern city of Philadelphia, considering that the PRR owned more than a third of N&W's common stock then.]
