RAILS TO COMPLY
------
New Anti-Spitting Health Ordinance Goes Into Effect Monday
------
The railroads operating in West Virginia are preparing to comply with the recent ruling of the state board of health in regard to spitting on the floors of railroad stations and cars when it goes into effect next Monday. The board of health is trying to abolish the filthy and dangerous practice of spitting on the floors and has ruled that the railroads shall place cuspidors in all of their trains and waiting rooms. The ruling does not meet with the approval of all the railroad people, but rather than take a chance on being indicted, they are getting ready to comply with it. They claim that with the placing of cuspidors in the stations and cars there will be more spitting than now, and as most people who spit at all are not careful about striking the cuspidors the floors will catch it.
------
[Everyone would have to agree with the railroad people that the presence of cuspidors will stimulate an increase in "target practice."]
