After application of the bicentennial scheme, eng 1776
made the first revenue trip to Norfolk on No. 86.  It had
"white walls".  Although N&W specified that the 1776 was
to be operated as the lead unit on all trains and it was
to be kept "presentable",  no shop bothered to trim
the wheel rims.
