Of the three agents listed on the blotter, only Gardner and Stedner are
listed under Kansas City in the 1941 Official Guide and only Gardner and
Berry are listed in the 1951 and 1953 Guides for Kansas City, incidentally
these last two Guides show the same telephone number as on the blotter, so
this gives a range in which the blotter could have been issued.

As for the question about agents farther west, the answer is "yes." The
1951 Guide, for example, shows Traffic Dept. offices in 10 on-line cities,
such as Columbus, OH, Durham, NC, etc., and in 29 off-line cities, such as
Jacksonville, FL, Buffalo and New York, NY, Boston, MA, San Francisco, CA,
Denver, CO, Minneapolis, MN, Oklahoma City, OK, Memphis, TN, or basically
anywhere the railroad thought it could make a buck by having agents located
where they could steer traffic to the N&W..
