Contracts Not Let
The Virginian Railway Company through H. Fernstrom, engineer, did not let the contracts for improvements as was expected at Norfolk on Saturday. Mr. Fernstrom expects to go to Maine at once, and it is not likely he will let the contracts until his return. The work to be done consists of straightening out the line at Harper and will necessitate the removal of 250,000 cubic feet of muck, a great deal of which is hard rock. The work to be done is about two miles in length.
[Harper, WV, is on the main line about 24 miles north of Mullens; about 10 miles north of Jenny Gap.]
