Glade Spring station building is being demolished. Parking spaces will be
the final result. On a personal note, when my wife, formerly Maiddie Frye,
began her nursing education in the fall of 1949, her father drove her from
their home in Saltville to Glade Spring where she boarded the train taking
her to Radford College. (She ultimately transferred to Charlottesville and
became a diploma nurse at UVA.)
