Charlie,
Thanks for the response. I have two loose tenders sitting somewhere under the layout table and one will find it’s way to being the coal and water tender for B-8.
Hope you had a wonderful Christmas!

Michael:
I have seen a photo of Virginian crane B-8 at a derailment (probably late 40's). I recorded the service car as 90369. Only about half of the flat car is visible - no tanks showing. In the TLC equipment book it is listed as an F-3X. The equipment book also says that it was, at one time, assigned to B-4 for rail and trucks. The tender may have been disconnected at the wreck site for better equipment access.

Question for the group: B-8 is pictured on the bottom of pg 79 of The VGN Railway handbook. Anyone know what type of tender served with this crane? Was it the VGN “semi-whaleback” (for lack of a better name) or was it a more squared off type. Overland produced this or a very similar crane in O scale years ago and it is now painted and sitting the the yard on the layout but can’t go anywhere else on the layout because there is no fuel and water supply to go with it!
