For those wishing to read more about the Durham division, I refer you to volume 29 ,#3, pages 28 to 36 of the Arrow published in 2013.It confirms much of the discussion of this thread but also provides some photos of equipment used on the line. Some operating schedules are also provided.James Smith

Did the Norfolk and Western passenger trains use the Union station in central Durham or was there another station?
Jim: N&W passenger trains used Union Station until 10/10/1955. After that, mixed trains Nos. 71-72 originated/terminated at Duke Yard. Before that date, passenger traffic for downtown Durham was handled on the Duke Belt Line to a junction near West Main Street, then it was about 2/10ths of a mile to the station. Harry Bundy
