Y4 - what role did they play on the railroad?

I don't know who wrote this, but, nothing could be further from the truth!

Water tanks on the Roanoke District were located at the following 
locations and about twenty miles apart from one another.:

Lithia

James River Tank (The timetable says Natural Bridge, however, the tank 
was located along a mountain stream south of there a couple of miles.)

Loch Laird (2)

Vesuvius

Waynesboro

Sampson

Shenandoah

I have seen photographic proof of all of these water tanks in the later 
years of steam with the exception of James River Tank, which would be 
the hardest to get to in order to photograph.
