1. Town Mtg: "EQUAL PEOPLE, EQUAL MARRIAGE - Apr 15
Continuing All Roads to Justice." 7:00 p.m. Temple
Emanu-El, 756 E. Broad St., Westfield, featuring
CONGRESSMAN BARNEY FRANK. A New Jersey native and one
of the great orators in American political history. Be
there to welcome this civil rights hero home!
Congressman Frank (D-MA) will talk about developments
in New Jersey, Massachusetts and Washington, D.C. His
appearance is courtesy of PFLAG, to which we extend
our gratitude. Thanks to your activism, New Jersey has
a new domestic partnership law. We now continue All
Roads to Justice and will next achieve marriage

2. Out of the Box - Apr 16
Happy April!  In addition to being National Poetry
Month! April is also...  Math Awareness Month  and
Alcohol Awareness Month  and  Stress Awareness Month 
and  Tsnami Awareness Month   and National Child Abuse
Prevention Month. So... come celebrate POETRY and
AWARENESS of all issues great and small, pervasive and
particular, universal and specific
OUT OF THE BOX an open mic for all types of performers
comedians, poets, musicians, jugglers, singers, etc
etc...   
APRIL 16th (this Friday) at 8:00 pm ('til about 10:30
pm) at the Pride Center of New Jersey, 1048 Livingston
Avenue, North Brunswick, NJ (look for the pink awning)
for directions: 732-846-2232, feature for April is
spoken-word/rhymescape philosopher and rhythmic ranter

(and OOTB host) PANDORA SCOOTER. $5 suggested
donation/ $3 for students free low-octane beverages
and light gnosh served how this open-mic works...
folks show up around 7:45 pm or so. those who would
like to, sign up on the open-mic list to share their
words, music, etc... at 8:00 pm we begin (or
thereabouts) and folks who signed up are called up to
share. around 9:00 the featured artists for the
evening take the stage for 20-30 minutes. afterwards,
we continue with the open-mic list. If you have

3. NJ GAY MEN'S CHORUS - Apr 18
The New Jersey Gay Men's Chorus performs during Sunday
Worship on April 18 at the Princeton Unitarian Church,

4. ELLIS APPEARING IN EAST BRUNSWICK - Apr 22
The Pride Center is sponsoring the performer Ellis,
one of the hottest new young folk singers out there.
She hails from Minneapolis, but has over 150 gigs
booked throughout the US. Not only is she talented and
cute, she is very down to earth and always stays after
shows to sign CD's and chat with her fans. Check out

Society Church in East Brunswick, NJ on Thursday,

5. HEALTH EDUCATION AT THE PRIDE CENTER - Apr 22
PCNJ Executive Direct, Ellen J. Gilio, announces the
first Evening of Health Education at the Pride Center
to take place on Thursday, April 22 from 7pm to 10pm. 
Representatives from Hyacinth, the Cancer Institute of
New Jersey, and UMDNJ's SmokeOUT Program will be on
hand to discuss the latest health issues for the
LGBTIQ community regarding HIV/AIDS, cancer (including
breast cancer), and tobacco addiction.  For further

6. DIVA REVIEW & DANCE - April 24
BiZone & PCNJ are co-sponsoring drag performances by
"Diva Review" followed by an awesome D.J. dance party
Saturday night, April 24 at the Woodbridge Hilton
(Metropark).  Music will be provided by Cosmic
Entertainment, who also performed at the fabulous
Pride Center Valentine's Day Dance.  Doors open at
6:45pm, show starts at 7:30pm, dance starts at 9pm.
Admission is $15, or free for those attending BiZone's
Endless Possibilities Conference.  The conference,
which starts with a party Friday night, will fill your
Saturday with social space, speakers, workshops, a
film room, and plenty of opportunities to make new
friends.  The Diva Review and dance will be the
perfect ending to an exciting day.  More information

7. AALLU / WOMYNS HERSTORY MONTH - Apr 25
In honor of Womyns Herstory Month, African American
Latina Lesbians United (AALLU) will be viewing the
movie "The Watermelon Woman" at 7:30 p.m. at the Pride
Center, 1048 Livingston Ave., North Brunswick. "The
Watermelon Woman" is the story of a young black woman
who is making a documentary about an obscure black
actress from the 1930’s (known as the "Watermelon
Woman"). While in the process of making the
documentary she met a white woman with whom she fell
in love. After the viewing there will be an open
discussion on the image of womyn of color in the
media. Refreshments will be provided. AALLU on-site
meetings and events are on the 4th Thursday of every
month at the Pride Center (732-846-2232). A $4 .00
donation is requested for all on – site meetings; more

8. INTERSEX WORKSHOP - May 6 
Spend an evening discussing the intersex movement with
Betsy Driver, co-founder and director of Bodies Like
Ours.  While this evening will be geared towards
creating a support group for intersex people, other
interested people are most welcome to attend.  Bodies
Like Ours and The Pride Center of New Jersey are
interested in filling the support needs of intersex
people in NJ, as well as their friends, and families. 
This will be a planning meeting towards reaching that
goal.  We'll also talk about planning the first ever
Intersex Awareness Day to be held October 26, 2004.

9. SPEED DATING - Apr 27
The Pride Center is Cosponsoring a Speed Dating Event
with Pre-Dating! Pre-Dating(TM)is the National
6-minute Speed Dating service for Single 
Professionals with monthly events in over 65+ cities.

11. DOUBLES TOURNAMENT - May 16
The Central NJ GLBT Tennis Club is sponsoring a
Doubles Tournament on Sunday, May 16, 2004 at the
Green Knolls Tennis Center in Bridgewater, NJ from
9AM-2PM.  For teams with combined NTRP level of
6.5-8.0 (individual NTRP of 3.0-4.0).  Medals awarded.
Cost is only $11per person and includes court time
and matches, balls, and complimentary water and
snacks.  Deadline for entering is May 3.  Limited to
20 teams, so early registration is strongly

12. HYACINTH AIDS WALK - May 16
Hyacinth AIDS Foundation will be holding AIDS WALK NJ
on Sunday, May 16, 2004 at the Woodlawn of the
Eagleton Institute on the Douglass College Campus of
Rutgers University.  We are looking for individuals
who are willing to recruit corporate and social
organization teams to participate in the Walk.  This
year's Walk is more important than ever!  With changes
in funding priorities at the State and Federal levels
and continued rates of new infections, we need your
help so that we can continue to provide the same level
of services to our clients!  If you are interested in

13. A NIGHT AT THE RACES - June 12
When: Saturday June 12, 2004
Where: Meadowlands Racetrack, East Rutherford, NJ
Ticket prices:  	$45.00 – members

The Pride Center of New Jersey is proud to announce a
new and exciting fundraising event for Pride Month
(June) 2004 - A night at the races at the Meadowlands
Racetrack.  Come join old members and new for a
thrilling evening of fun, food and live racing at New
Jersey’s premiere racing venue. We’ll have a barbecue
picnic, soft drinks, beer & wine in our own private
section of the paddock area at the track.  So tell
your friends and family, save the date, and look for
more information on ticket sales on our web site,

than dining outdoors on a warm early summer evening,
drinking draft beer and betting on horses, right down
by the track while you cheer them on. Sounds like a
