Hello everybody!

Yesterday I gathered with a bunch of friends, and we did an almost 3 hours
show to pay tribute to the 40 yrs. anniversary of Clapton's carreer, in
Florianopolis, southern Brazil. The good thing about being a musician, is
that I could choose the set list playing things Clapton doesn't do onstage
anymore. The repertoire is which follows:

1st set

Keep On Growing
All Your Love
I Feel Free
Blues Power
I Ain’t Got You
Hideaway
Why Does Love Got to Be?
Crossroads
Presence of the Lord
Roll it Over
Strange Brew
White Room
Bell Bottom Blues
Crosscut Saw
Lay Down Sally
I Wish You Would
Ramblin’ on my Mind
Born Under a Bad Sign
Tell the Truth
Sunshine of Your Love

2nd set

Riding With the King
I Can’t Stand it
I Shot the Sheriff
Someday After a While
I’m Tore Down
It Hurts Me Too
Third Degree
Badge
Layla
After Midnight
Better Make it Through
Old Love
Same Old Blues
Let It Rain

Some observations and conclusions about my experience last night:

- Although I can't bear to listen EC playing Lay Down Sally anymore, it was
the first time I tried to sing it and play it live, and I must confess, it's
a damn good song to *whom is playing*. I liked to play it more than to hear
it - the groovie in infectious.

-The crowd loved and danced a lot with I Can't Stand It and Riding With The
King; It hurts me too was the favorite blues number.

- Everybody asked me about songs like I ain't got you, I wish you would,
Better Make it Through, Same Old Blues and Keep On Growing; the average
audience is not familiarized with those numbers, and seemed to liked a lot.
That leads me to think what would happen if EC played more songs like
this... Of course people were expecting us to play WT, TIH and Cocaine, but
we resisted strongly-hehe

We played without keyboards, which gave us a new perspective in the
arrengement. Songs like Old Love and Better Make it Through sounded rawer
and bluesiest than ever, which is nice in some way. Maybe it would be nice
to EC- I remember him with a small combo on the unreleased tracks on
Crossroads II. In our show there were two guitars, bass drums and
percussion. Me and my friend Ulysses shared vocals and soloing. He's an
specialist in Yardbirds and Cream stuff, and I'm more into Bluesbreakers,
Dominos and solo years.

The house wasn't packed since it was an wednesday, but there were about a
hundred and ten people - this club, John Bull Pub allows 250, it seemed kind
of empty, but in fact it wasn't - the place was too big-hehehe

I used my 74 strat and my 335, which fitted very well with the bassman amp.
Unfortunately, due to technical problems and the bad will of the owner, we
couldn't taped it- Mike Prehn and some others asked about, sorry guys- since
it was a well-suceeded prokect, we'll be doing it again, but maybe like
thematic shows, like Tribute to the Bluesbreakers, or Tibute to Derek &
Dominos, for instance.

Thanks to all for reading it, have a nice x'mas everybody!!! hohoho
