[Slowhand] sentimental journey

Hi, everyone,

I have the studio version of "Layla" on repeat right now, surfing the web, and just wanted to share with you that today, after having left flowers where my mom is laid to rest, I ambled about a half mile down the river bank and paid my respects to Duane Allman (and Berry Oakley). Having lived in Macon, Ga on and off much of my life (and lately almost daily crossing Duane Allman Blvd. and Berry Oakley Bridge), it was my first visit to the gravesite. As I walked up with my map of Rose Hill Cemetery, "Mean Old World" going round in my head, two car-loads of visitors were just taking off. I was surprised to find that there were no obelisks or angels, nothing showy, just straight out marble engraved with musical notes, a psychedelic mushroom and of course, a large guitar. I couldn't read the long inscription as there were leaves covering most of it. I did make out the words, "and teaching others...." Wonder if Duane and Eric would have again hit just the right collaborative notes and given us even more magic to enjoy through the years?

Best,
susan
