[Slowhand] New Book

For many years,  the Slowhand Digest was one of my favorite things on 
the web, something I really looked forward to every day (often, more 
than once).

I'm not sure what the reasons are, but it's declined dramatically in the 
past 4 or 5 years.  If I had to put my finger on a reason, the main 
problem I see is that so many people (1) can't get their posts into the 
Digest and (2) email delivery is spotty at best.

Needless to say, people stop participating if they can't be a part of 
the dialog.  This started years ago when many AOL members could not post 
or receive the SD, and now I have discussions with friends on a regular 
basis who either want me to send them copies of the latest SD, or can't 
post.

My own experience is that I have 3 subscribed accounts, of which one 
receives the digest now (the other two mysteriously stopped working a 
couple of months back) and only one of which will post to the SD 
reliably (this one).

It's sad to see something that I once enjoyed so much die a slow, 
wasting death in this manner.  I would respectfully suggest, that it 
would be best either to (1) fix the problems so that everyone can 
participate or (2) close the list and take it out of its misery.  
Really, if it's not going to be proactively maintained, a mercy killing 
would be a kinder, gentler fate than watching it slide away painfully. 
Just my .02 (plus tax).

Anyone who doubts me should take a trip back in the archives a few years 
when this was a vibrant list with lots of interesting discussion.  Now ....
