Thanks Nick, a very informative reply.
There is one more anomaly I did not write about. There is a bass player
mentioned in the liner notes (I don't have his name on hand at work)who
replaced Jack Bruce prior to John McVie returning.
Jack Bruce's last gig was on 28 November 1965 at the Flamingo Club,
Soho, London.
John McVie returned to the group on 2 December 1965 at the Pye Studios,
London studio gig for "On Top of the World".
Looking at the Slowhand Tourography website, there were no Mayall shows
after 28 Nov 1965 until 23 Dec 1965. Is it just a matter of there being
no historic record of shows between those dates? That would mean that
the named bass player would have been around for a few nights.
Alternatively, did Mayall take a holiday break at that time? That would
mean that the bass player fitted in somewhere else.
If anyone knows where to contact Mark Powell (the Blues Breakers Deluxe
Edition producer, come researcher) perhaps they could ask him.
