Two letters in the current issue of Guitarist relate to Clapton, firstly, one letter muses over the fact that if Clapton took the best parts of three guitars to make Blackie, what did he do with the rest?
Secondly, a rather amazing story, a guy who was a Clapton fan, went to his local guitar shop and ordered a Clapton Strat, a few weeks later, he got a call to say it was in stock. Upon collection the manager told him that it was the nicest one he'd ever seen, that the maple was beautifully figured and it played excellently, it was apparently built by Todd Krause, the head man at The Custom shop. A week later the guy got a call from the shop, could he bring the guitar back, Fender had made a mistake, apparently the guitar was not meant for retail sale, but was destined for the man himself! Obviously the guy said "Naaah!".
The Editors reply to this was, "You call yourself a Clapton fan yet you hold his guitar to ransom?"
Personally I would've made the swap, but with conditions, such as lots of Clapton and Fender stuff thrown in, seems only fair don't you think?

Simon.
p.s. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all!
