[Slowhand] Layla riff

I know this is probably a dumb question by now but who wrote what part or all of the Layla riff? I seem to remember a video where Clapton made a comment where he had a part of it and Duane added the rest.  I also listened to the Albert King song that is said to be where Dueane got the notes for the riff and that does not seem to be the whole thing. Any comments.
