[Slowhand] Band lineup

I'm inclined to think the band will not contain too many surprises, as
Eric and Steve (or Steve and Eric as it is being billed) will want as
much familiar territory as possible, and a band that will not be too
difficult to get into form in time for this event.

So I'd be predicting Steve Jordan, Willie Weeks, Doyle and possibly
Derek if he's available, maybe Stainton or Carmon on additional
keyboards as the nucleus. An outside chance would be the inclusion of
some Winwood band members, like percussionist Walfredo Reyes or
guitarist Jose Neto, depending on whether Steve includes some of his
current material.

Ginger Baker would be in the unlikely category.

No doubt they will perform Mr Fantasy, Pearly Queen, Can't Find My Way,
Presence of the Lord, Had To Cry Today, Cocaine, Crossroads, Layla, a
slow blues for Eric and a few other individual selections. I expect it
would be too difficult for the band to learn a whole bunch of unfamiliar
material. But who knows, maybe they will surprise us all.

Cheers,

Jon

I agree. I think DT will be there if there are no conflicts. He really
blended in nicely at Crossroads II. I wonder if the second drummer, Ian
Thomas, will be there. It seemed to me that he followed Steve Jordan
during the EC songs, but took the lead during the SW set.

However, as great as they were together, I think it will be a missed
opportunity if Ginger Baker does not make an appearance. Even for a few
of the songs that he helped create. EC was never satisfied with Blind
Faith, so why not close this chapter of his career on his terms?

Besides, I don't think I have ever seen a better drummer than Ginger
Baker. And I have seen some of the greats including Keith Moon, Jim
Gordon, Kenny Jones, Carmine Appice, Charlie Watts, Ringo Starr, Zak
Starkey, Jamie Oldaker, and Clapton's three Steves.
