I saw Beck and Clapton last night at the Centre Bell last night.
I've never been much of a fan of Beck's playing and opening with
a string section !!??! didn't persuade me although i do like A Day in
the Life. Tal Walkenfield was not there and i learned that the female
bass player was ex of Prince's band.
Clapton opened with an acoustic set which included Driftin' Blues,
Layla and I've Got a Rock and Roll Heart. Given Beck's opening set,
Clapton's electric set was abbreviated and included staples like
I Shot the Sheriff, Little Queen of Spades and Cocaine.
They both closed with a set that had Shake YourMoneymaker,
Moon River !! and Outside Women Blues among the mostly bluesy
set. Clapton was Clapton and i'm glad i got to see them both
together on stage but i think overall i would have preferred a typical
Clapton show and lineup.
Did i read somewhere that Clapton is going to do some shows with
Roger Daltry in the following weeks?
